Kentucky Community and Technical College System

KCTCS runs 16 colleges across Kentucky, offering readiness programmes, transfer education, workforce training and online learning as the state's largest postsecondary provider.

Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) is Kentucky's largest provider of postsecondary education. Founded in 1997 through the merger of 14 community colleges and 15 technical institutes, it now operates 16 colleges serving communities across the state. The system has educated more than one million students and offers the lowest tuition in Kentucky.

KCTCS delivers workforce-focused education through four main strands: college and workforce readiness programmes that prepare students for college-level study and employment; transfer education pathways to four-year institutions; workforce training designed around regional employer demand; and online learning, which runs alongside hands-on technical and vocational programmes. Instruction therefore combines flexible delivery with practical, career-oriented teaching.

The system's stated commitments are affordability and accessibility, adapting provision to student needs and to the requirements of employers in each region of Kentucky. Its mission is framed as transforming lives and strengthening Kentucky's economic vitality. Further information is available at https://kctcs.edu/.
