Metropolitan Community College is a public community college in the Omaha area offering 100+ academic and workforce programmes to more than 40,000 students a year.
Metropolitan Community College (MCC) is Nebraska's largest comprehensive public community college, serving the Omaha metropolitan area since 1974, when it was established through the legislative consolidation of the state's technical community college areas. The institution enrols more than 40,000 students annually across a service district covering Dodge, Douglas, Sarpy and Washington counties, and operates multiple campuses throughout the region.
The college offers over 100 academic programmes grouped into seven categories: Business, Community & Human Services, Creative Arts & Design, Health Professions, Information Technology, Skilled Trades & Technical Sciences, and Transfer programmes. Qualifications on offer include two-year associate degrees, career certificates, certificates of achievement and workforce credentials, a mix that reflects the institution's origins as an occupational school. Instruction is delivered through on-campus, online, hybrid, weekend and evening formats.
MCC holds institutional accreditation on the Higher Learning Commission's ten-year open pathway, with programme-specific accreditations including nursing (ACEN), culinary arts (ACFEF), accounting (ACBSP) and human services (CSHSE). Campus life includes honour societies, intramural activities, student organisations and leadership opportunities.
