A network of tuition-free public K-8 charter schools in Arizona, Nevada and Arkansas, teaching 8,500+ students a college-preparatory, whole-child curriculum.
The Academies of Math and Science is a network of tuition-free, public K-8 charter schools founded in 2000 by Tatyana Chayka and Sergey Shayevich. From 30 students at its founding, the network has grown to serve more than 8,500 students across nine campuses in Arizona, Nevada and Arkansas. Its academic programme places particular emphasis on mathematics and science while including foreign language instruction as part of a broader whole-child curriculum that also covers art, music and character development.
Most of the network's schools serve Title I communities, and its stated mission is to provide rigorous, college-preparatory education to students in historically underserved areas. Students consistently outperform expectations on state exams. Beyond core academics, extracurricular opportunities include a robotics club, an art showcase and science fairs.
Teachers work within professional learning communities, with an emphasis on data-driven instruction and the continuous improvement of teaching practice. Technical domains across the network include STEM education, robotics and data-driven instruction. Further information is available at https://enrollams.org/.
