National Heritage Academies

National Heritage Academies operates 103 tuition-free K-12 public charter schools across nine US states, serving over 65,000 students since 1995.

National Heritage Academies (NHA) is a network of tuition-free public charter schools serving students in kindergarten through 12th grade. Founded in 1995, the organisation operates 103 schools across nine states - Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, New York, North Carolina, Colorado, Georgia, Louisiana and Wisconsin - supporting more than 65,000 students.

Instruction is complemented by the Moral Focus™ program, a character education strand woven into daily learning that teaches virtues such as respect, gratitude and courage. NHA states that it partners with families to prepare children for college, careers and life, with an explicit commitment to eliminating the achievement gap and expanding school choice.

Reported outcomes include three and a half additional months of learning per year relative to public school peers, according to a Stanford University study; three in four partner schools outperforming their local districts on state academic proficiency tests; and all high school graduates accepted to college.
